Hands On Training for Business Owners and Leaders

Published Friday Apr 8, 2011

Granite State College and Bruce Mast & Associates, Inc. (BMA) have joined forces to provide empowering hands on leadership development programs to businesses and their employees statewide. BMA's five-session Stepping Up To Leadership program and the 10-session Leadership On The Line program are each custom-tailored to the state's business community.

Stepping Up To Leadership will be offered first at Granite State College campuses in Rochester, Conway and Claremont this spring and summer, with more programs and campuses added in Fall 2011. This program offers employers and business leaders compelling perspectives and insights into the kinds of leadership roles - and the leaders needed to fill them - necessary to ensure the further growth and success of their businesses.

Meanwhile, individuals identified as emerging leaders garner a fundamental understanding of leadership and its impact, both personal and from an organizational perspective, as well as an understanding of the basic tools of leadership.

"What is truly exciting about this partnership is the opportunity to provide a new learning venue for those advancing in their field - acquiring real world leadership skills within a coaching environment," said Tessa McDonnell, dean of students and external management at Granite State College.

"Through the Stepping Up To Leadership program, we will help organizations match their organizational needs with an individual's abilities," said John Ford, principal of Bruce Mast & Associates,Inc. "This is a two-step process, involving both the organization and the individual. The result is greater capacity for individuals and a stronger, focused path for growth for the organization."

Stepping Up To Leadership will be delivered in five four-hour sessions:

  • Rochester, NH Campus: Every other Tuesday morning, 12:30 to 4:30, starting on May 17
  • Conway, NH Campus:  Every other Friday morning, 8:30 to 12:30, starting on April 8
  • Claremont, NH Campus:Every Friday morning, 8:30 - to 12:30, starting July 15 (Note: This program will be a summer intensive running over five weeks.)
