HAMPTON — The president of the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce has filed an ethics complaint against a state official, alleging they attempted to influence the outcome of the bidding process to lease and develop New Hampshire’s Interstate 95 liquor store properties.
John Nyhan filed the complaint on April 22 with the Executive Branch Ethics Committee against state Consumer Advocate Donald M. Kreis, who publicly endorsed Global Partners over Common Man Roadside on April 13, the same day a recommendation was slated to come from a selection committee on who should be awarded the bid.
State officials have not disclosed which bidder was selected or whether the process is complete.
Nyhan, who has publicly endorsed Common Man Roadside, argues Kreis violated conflict?of?interest rules by releasing his endorsement via a Substack post while serving as a “senior executive” in the state’s executive branch and called for an investigation into his “public attempts to influence” the bidding process.
