To make the Five to Watch, companies had to demonstrate high sales growth between 2017 and 2019 and generate more than $1 million in revenue annually. The Five Companies to Watch are businesses that have not generated the revenue, yet, to make the Private 100 but whose sales are skyrocketing. Here is one of those companies:

Soil-Away Cleaning & Restoration, run by father and son team Jack and Josh Solloway, has been growing quickly. In the past few years, the company has added construction to its cleanup services to help clients rebuild their homes following a fire or flood. The company has also worked to expand its base of commercial clients, COO Josh Solloway says.
And with a robust construction climate in the past couple of years on both residential and commercial fronts, and universities adding dorm rooms, it has been a boon for Soil-Away, he says.
CEO Jack Solloway credits his son for growing the company’s social media presence. He says customers appreciate that Soil-Away acts as their advocate when dealing with insurance companies.
“We coach and mentor them so they [not only] understand what we are doing and why, but how to navigate through the insurance realm to get them up and running as soon as possible,” he says.
As for 2020, Josh says, “It’s been a rollercoaster of a year.” He says weather plays a big part in demand for their services, and with a mild winter last year and a summer drought, “There were not a lot of storms that would give us a burst of business,” he says.
Soil-Away did see an increase in requests from businesses for cleaning and sanitizing related to COVID-19 as they reopened.
And the company disinfected 300 first responder vehicles for free at the start of the pandemic. While the duo expects that 2020 will be a good year, Josh says it will not reach 2019 levels even though they added three employees since March.
Jack says his goal moving forward is continued growth. “We want to be the go-to restoration company that people can have faith and trust in,” he says.
