Don't Miss the June 27 Deadline for the Go Red BetterU Makeover Challenge!

Published Thursday Jun 12, 2014

Who
We want YOU! The American Heart Association, along with its generous supporters, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care of New England and the Genavix Wellness Network, are seeking applicants for this life-changing challenge.* Please pass this important information along to your employees so they and family members have a chance to participate.

We want applications from men and women who have a desire to change their lifestyle in order to live a more heart-healthy life. We will select 12 Harvard Pilgrim members to participate in the BetterU Makeover Challenge and showcase them at the Go Red for Women Luncheon on Monday, October 27, 2014.

What
This comprehensive makeover challenge and wellness program will be delivered by a certified Genavix Wellness Coach. The program includes 13 weeks of counseling in nutrition, fitness, behavior modification, time and stress management. Each weekly two-hour meeting begins with a one hour dynamic, informative lecture, followed by an hour of exercise. This program is life- changing … participant commitment is a must! Participants selected are required to pay a fee of $150, which will be reimbursed by Harvard Pilgrim upon completion of ALL 13 weeks of the program.

Where
The American Heart Association and the Genavix Wellness Network will provide all of the services needed for this 13-week challenge. More details will be available to the chosen participants.

When
Applications are due no later than Friday, June 27, 2014, and the participants will be notified shortly thereafter. The challenge will kick off on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 and will come to a close on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. The challengers will be recognized at the Go Red for Women Luncheon on Monday, October 27, 2014, in Manchester.

Why
Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women. In fact, 1 in 29 women die of breast cancer, but about 1 in every 2.4 women will die of heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases. Despite these staggering facts, only 21% of women consider heart disease a health threat. We have set out to change this perception with the hopes of also changing these statistics. The BetterU Challenge will not only encourage women to live a healthier lifestyle, but it will also raise awareness about the importance of heart health and how we can save our own lives as well as the lives of the women we love.

How
You can simply fill out the application <http://t.e2ma.net/click/et2jf/mfpazr/io1q1d>  and submit it to the New Hampshire office of the American Heart Association (see application for details). Men are also encouraged to apply.

It’s time for a BetterU.

*This program is not an insurance product. Rather, it's a program designed to help keep members healthy.
