Published Thursday Jun 16, 2016

Dyn in Manchester is partnering with the MIT Scheller Teacher Education Program, the Governor’s STEM Task Force, STEAM Ahead NH and the Manchester School District to launch a pilot program to teach local Manchester teachers, a select group from other schools, how to teach coding. The project is an effort to implement computer science education into the school curriculum to get students inspired to pursue careers in computer science to fill future workforce needs.

The pilot summer professional development program will introduce select teachers in the Manchester School District to the program, Coding Across the Curriculum. Teachers will participate in a two-day workshop with  MIT students and professors to learn how to teach code in preparation for in-class implementation during academic year 2016-2017.

There are 42 teacher participating: 25 from Manchester West High School (equal to 50 percent of the faculty), six from McLaughlin Middle School, two from Hillside Middle School, and one from the Middle School at Parkside, all in Manchester, along with and five teachers from White Mountains Regional High School in Whitefield.

Dyn is a cloud-based Internet Performance Management (IPM) company.
