For much of the past decade, the Mount Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce has presented a chilly chili cookoff. However, this year the event will be spiced up a notch with two simultaneous chili cook-offs.
Tastings will be available at both cook-offs and the town will host plenty of other activities throughout North Conway Village. The date for the cook-off is March 5, beginning at 11 a.m. Businesses throughout North Conway Village will offer everything from Hot Chillys Ski Gear to Chilean wines to make this a truly hot event.
Winning this chili cook-off qualifies the chef to compete for $25,000 in cash prizes and awards at the 2011 ICS's World Championship Chili Cookoff held in Manchester September 30 to October 2, 2011. To compete in the Cinco de Marzo Chili Cookoff chefs must be a member of the ICS. Information is found at www.chilicookoff.com/Membership.
Chefs will compete in three different categories of chili offerings including Traditional Red Chili, Chili Verde, and Salsa. First-, second- and third-place awards will be offered in each category. Cash awards will be given for the Traditional Red Chili category only.
