Catholic  Medical Center (CMC) in Manchester took top honors in the HeartWalk Hospital  Cup Challenge. CMC competed with Elliot Health System in Manchester and Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Lebanon, to see which organization could raise the most awareness of and money for research related to heart disease and stroke.

The eight-week challenge raised more than $40,000 to support the life-saving work of the American Heart Association. The cup was claimed at the June 4 Heart and Stroke Walk at Derryfield Park in Manchester by Catholic Medical Center, which raised more than half the total amount, or $24,331.

“At CMC we strive to be at the heart of everyday so it is especially rewarding to have won the Heart Walk Hospital Cup Challenge.” said Dr. Joseph Pepe, president and CEO of Catholic Medical Center.  "But what is most gratifying is that, together, all three hospitals were able to raise more than $40,000 to benefit of the patients community and the health of future generations.”

The Heart and Stroke Walk was attended by more than 1,200 walkers who were there in support of survivors or walked in memory of family members they lost to heart disease or stroke. The walk raised more than $180,000 to advance their mission of building healthier lives free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.
