Published Tuesday Jan 3, 2012

Manchester's Catholic Medical Center (CMC) announced during the holidays that Alex Walker will join the organization as general counsel. In this role, he will be responsible for overseeing legal matters, corporate compliance, government relations, human resources, and risk management.

We are very happy to welcome Alex to our team, said CMC President and CEO Alyson Pitman Giles, FACHE. He has represented CMC for many years and has always been drawn to our mission-oriented industry and culture. Health care is constantly changing and Alex's expertise will benefit CMC's ability to provide access and care.

Walker is currently completing his second three-year term as president and CEO of the Manchester-based law firm Devine, Millimet & Branch. At Devine, Millimet, Walker oversees strategic planning and policy initiatives, human resources, finance, IT, marketing, and facilities. Under his leadership, the firm was recognized as a Best Large Company to Work For" in New Hampshire by Business NH Magazine in 2007. The firm was also noted on the Top 100 Private Companies by Business New Hampshire in 2011 Magazine. He has personally earned recognitions as a New England Super Lawyer and among the Best Lawyers in America.

CMC has been a client of the firm for many years and a big part of my law practice, said Walker. Serving as general counsel provides an opportunity for me to work directly with those who do so much to serve our community through its mission of providing health, healing and hope. This is an exciting change for me.

Walker is chair of the board of directors of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and serves as a volunteer member on many other boards including the NH Business & Industry Association, Palace Theater, Granite United Way, City Year, and Bishop's Charitable Assistance Fund. He will begin his new role in mid-January.
