C&S Wholesale Grocers and Franklin Pierce University Launch Scholars Program

Published Thursday Sep 21, 2017

C&S Wholesale Grocers in Keene, the largest privately held company based in NH and one of the 10 largest privately held companies in the United States, is partnering with Franklin Pierce University to offer a new pathway to experiential learning, paid internships, and opportunities for full-time employment for students with their new four-year C&S Scholars Program.

As part of the new C&C Scholars initiative, C&S is collaborating with Franklin Pierce University to help prepare students for successful careers, beginning with their first day on campus. The grocery supply company sees the program as an opportunity to increase its pipeline for local talent by offering jobs to new graduates with skills in accounting, marketing, finance, and other disciplines. The program is focused on helping students make professional connections, gain hands-on skills, and obtain experience using the latest technology.

While many colleges and universities wait until junior or even senior year to help students develop career planning, Franklin Pierce University has gained national recognition for working with students during their first year on campus to integrate career exploration options into their college experience. This is the latest initiative to help students make new connections beyond campus.

“As we continue to cultivate national, regional, and local connections that help our students link classroom learning with career opportunities, this new partnership is a very promising and forward-looking one,” says Kim Mooney, president of Franklin Pierce University.

All students will be exposed to opportunities in this program from their freshman through their senior year--and will be able to apply for paid internships and co-operatives to enhance their experiential learning. Students who pursue a co-operative with C&S during their senior year will be given consideration for full-time employment post-graduation.
