With more than a century of history and a broad regional footprint, McLane Middleton has established itself as a cornerstone of NH’s legal and business community.

Founded in 1919 in Manchester by John “Judge” R. McLane, the firm was built on a commitment to high-quality legal counsel, strong client relationships, and civic leadership—principles that continue to guide the organization today. Under CEO Steven Camerino, the firm employs 279 professionals with offices in Manchester, Concord and Portsmouth, as well as in Boston and Woburn, Massachusetts.

“I have always valued the firm’s rich history and its deep commitment to professional excellence and service to the community and the legal profession,” Camerino says. “I am grateful to work alongside such an outstanding group of colleagues. They make the firm an exceptional place to work.”

Over 107 years, McLane Middleton has grown into the largest full-service law firm in the state, with approximately 120 attorneys serving clients across practice areas from corporate law and litigation to privacy, data security and artificial intelligence. Its early representation of major institutions helped establish a strength in corporate law that continues today.

Managing Director John Colucci says that consistency of purpose remains a defining advantage. “We offer a breadth and sophistication of practice that rivals many large firms, while maintaining a collaborative approach that clients and our colleagues value,” he says.

McLane Middleton is one of the first organizations in NH to sign the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge and was the first NH law firm to be Mansfield Rule Certified, a national standard administered by Diversity Lab designed to increase the representation of women, attorneys of color, LGBTQ+ attorneys, and attorneys with disabilities in leadership and governance roles.

Community engagement is central to the firm. Attorneys and staff support more than 100 charitable organizations and contribute significant pro bono service each year. The firm’s pro bono tradition is closely tied to Jack B. Middleton, a 97-year-old senior director, former president and cultural leader who joined the firm in 1956. The annual Jack B. Middleton Pro Bono Award honors attorneys who demonstrate exceptional service to underserved populations.

Looking ahead, Colucci says growth will be “strategic and intentional,” with continued expansion in Massachusetts.
