Business & Industry Annual Dinner Planned for October 24

On October 24, the Business and Industry Association, New Hampshire's statewide chamber of commerce and lobbying organization, will host its 99th Annual Dinner, Lifetime Achievement and NH Advantage  Awards Celebration from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel/Center of New Hampshire in Manchester. This event, which draws more than 700 business, political and opinion leaders from around the state and is New Hampshire's largest and most prestigious business networking event, features presentation of two coveted awards the Lifetime Achievement and New Hampshire Advantage awards.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes business leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to leadership in their professions, communities and New Hampshire. Award recipients help shape their local communities and the state through their successful business endeavors, active participation in civic and town organizations, involvement in boards, and service to local and state government. Last year's recipients were former BIA President John Crosier and former U.S. Senator Judd Gregg.

Bonnie Newman, Kennedy School of Government; Walter Peterson, Franklin Pierce College; Henry Powers, Sprague Energy; David Putnam, Markem Corp.; Dr. Stephen Reno, University System of New Hampshire; F. Fuller Ripley, Troy Mills; William Ruger, Sr., Sturm Ruger and Co.; Neil Tillotson, Tillotson Corp.; James Wagner, Nexfor Fraser Papers; and Kimon Zachos, Sheehan Phinney Bass and Green.

The New Hampshire Advantage Award honors businesses, organizations or projects that enhance New Hampshire's special character and quality of life in meaningful ways. Past honorees include the New Hampshire Humanities Council, New Hampshire Food Bank, Easter Seals New Hampshire, the 2-1-1 New Hampshire Partnership, New Hampshire Political Library and a core group of supporters that worked to prevent closure of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard under the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure process.
