"I am a project manager for a small NH firm. I was assigned to a client who is a Fortune 500 company ($35 billion in revenue in 2010). As the project was nearing completion, I received an email response from the client that read: "Thank you for all your efforts in bringing this to a close... it is clear why you have earned such an outstanding reputation!"

I forwarded the email to my project team with a congratulatory message addressed to all involved, and cc'd the principals of the company.

Unfortunately, my immediate supervisor (one of the principals) promptly approached me and said, "You can print that email out, and stick it in the file, but next time you screw something up on one of his projects, none of what he said is going to matter."

Can I enter another story next month too?"
