It should not be surprising that a wealth management firm invests in its employees’ futures. The Foundry Financial Group contributes 3% of salary annually to each employee’s 401(k) plan that is fully vested immediately. The firm also makes an annual discretionary profit-sharing contribution that amounted to 10% of total payroll in the most recent tax year.
Foundry does not base its bonus programs on company metrics that lay outside of the employee’s control, but instead bases bonuses on personal performance. The firm also pays 80% of health insurance premiums and 100% of dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability insurances.
Foundry Financial Group is intentional about thanking employees, whether it’s providing a gift card to a local restaurant on their birthday or a pie just before Thanksgiving. For the winter holidays, employees receive flowers, a restaurant gift certificate and company swag. Last year’s gift was a Patagonia vest and a wool hat.
The company regularly surprises staff with random lunches and holds a car detail day, contracting with a local business to detail employees’ cars onsite. Each quarter, a different employee is chosen to organize a company outing, which has included a Fisher Cats game and a spin class followed by dinner and drinks.
Foundry also provides opportunities to rise up the ranks. Half of its leadership team are women who started as entry-level associates. That’s double the industry average.
