President Kelly Cohen says she is obsessed with culture and provides every employee with a culture book that defines the organization and its culture. Also in the book are unique benefits, places to eat, where to find the free office coffee, and Cohen Closing & Title’s history.

The culture committee plans a quarterly special event, which includes remote employees, such as an egg hunt in April, a taco building celebration in May and an ice cream social in June.

An employee-created nonprofit program encourages employees to donate $5 on Wednesdays to wear jeans. Those funds, paired with a company match, are donated to a nonprofit.

Kelly Cohen takes employees out to lunch on their anniversaries. They also can select a gift from a website on milestone anniversaries, ranging from $250 to spend at five years to $1,000 at 15 years.

Cohen Closing supports employees’ families. Associates can bring kids to work. At the annual summer party, families are invited to enjoy a pool and games. This year, employees and families received beach towels and drinkware. At the winter party, all guests got to spin a wheel to win prizes that included gift cards, Yeti products and four hours of paid time off.

At all-team meetings employees share shoutouts for team members who went above and beyond. One of them is then selected to receive a gift card. The firm will also waive the settlement fee on one personal or refinance transaction per year for employees.
