Years in Business: 19

Full-time Employees: 81

Years on List: 4 (plus 2 years in Hall of Fame)

“We give more than we get,” reads the mission statement of Mainstay Technologies. “We seek to make the world a better place, through business done right.” And that begins with crafting a culture that respects and engages employees. “The reason Mainstay exists is to support the flourishing   of people,” says CEO Ryan Barton.

This IT firm purposely limits business growth and watches workloads carefully to ensure employees have work-life balance. Mainstay offers flexible schedules and the ability to work from anywhere. All employees start with three weeks of paid time off (PTO), which progressively increases to five weeks after just seven years.

Training is a major focus, with lunch-n-learns, Mainstay University and bonuses on receiving certifications.

Mainstay also offers employees sabbaticals after every five years of employment. At five years, employees are offered the choice of a $2,000 bonus, an extra two weeks of PTO or some combination of both. At 10 years, employees can choose a full sabbatical with five paid extra weeks off, a $5,000 bonus or some combination of both.

“We believe that work should serve one’s life and be a beautiful and intrinsic part of it. These breaks are important for rejuvenation, resetting priorities in life, personal time, family time and adventures. Because work isn’t the purpose of life, it serves what is truly meaningful,” says Barton.

This is a company that likes to celebrate and be together. Celebrations include gaming nights, fun events and an annual training and celebration day called Mainstay Elevate.
