Outdoor Pride Landscape & Snow Management has grown 120% over the past seven years by cultivating sustainable relationships with its employees as well as its customers.

It starts with helping employees strike a work-life balance. Weather can dictate schedules during the winter, so Outdoor Pride offers four-day work weeks from April to October as well as unlimited paid time-off for all salary and management employees, as well as remote work options.

Managers are provided a new Ford Super Duty company truck with a fuel card, a company cell phone and anything else they may need to manage their crew. The company recently provided all employees with a pair of Outdoor Pride-branded work boots.

Transparency also sets this landscaping and snow management company apart from competitors. In 2020, it implemented open book management, inviting employees to take part in weekly budget forecasting sessions in which all financials are openly discussed. Employees see revenue figures, expenses, operational costs, giving them a direct buy-in to find ways to save costs and increase efficiencies and allowing them to track their bonuses. In addition, Outdoor Pride circulates a quarterly Open Book newsletter to the entire staff, providing a financial recap.

Outdoor Pride also invests in professional development opportunities, sending all 25 of its managers to the Snow & Ice Management Symposium in Connecticut in June for multiple days of educational courses, networking and trade shows. Last year, the company sent the women in the office to the Women in the Green Industry conference in Texas to hear from other women leaders in the industry. It also sent employees to ELEVATE in Florida last year, a landscape conference and expo.
