Published Monday Jul 31, 2017

Looking for inspiration to renovate or redesign your workplace? Business NH Magazine asked construction companies, interior design firms, architects and readers to share their coolest office and commercial spaces.

Wheelabrator Technologies, Portsmouth
Interior Design: Stibler Associates in Bedford
General Contractor: Aberthaw Construction Company in Lowell, Mass.

Wheelabrator Technologies moved into its Pease Tradeport office location in January 2016. The 27,000-square-foot office space on the second and third floors showcases the company’s operational and engineering-focused brand, using a clean, industrial aesthetic. Actual pieces from the company’s energy-from-waste facilities are incorporated into the interior space, such as refractory tile behind the reception desk and custom pieces of furniture made from boiler tubes and grate parts.

Brand colors are layered with rich variations from a simple color palette in the paints, flooring and furniture. Photographs of employees and infrastructure are integrated into the design. In addition to personal workspaces, there are also open meeting and gathering areas to give employees alternatives for individual or group work space.
