Amanda Grappone Osmer Presented Next Gen Civic Leadership Award

Published Friday Apr 15, 2011

Amanda Grappone Osmer was presented with the inaugural Next Generation Civic Leadership Award recently at a New Hampshire Public Radio gala celebrating 15 years of The Exchange. Betsy Gardella, president and CEO of NHPR, and Richard Ober, president and CEO of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, both of which are based in Concord, presented the award.

The organizations say they created the award to promote leadership and volunteerism among NH's next generation of community leaders. The award honors an individual who, through their volunteerism, philanthropy, and community involvement, demonstrates a commitment to make NH a better place for future generations. Nominations were invited from the public at large and a selection committee made up of representatives from NHPR, NHCF, Stay-Work-Play, and the community at large considered a range of impressive nominations.

"New Hampshire Public Radio and the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation have a mutual interest in encouraging the growth of future community leaders and the next generation of individuals who will foster social capital and lead a strong New Hampshire into a global world," said Ober.

In presenting the award, Gardella said, "Amanda has demonstrated a deep commitment to New Hampshire's communities through her involvement with organizations such as Leadership New Hampshire, Canterbury Shaker Village and the Capital Area Race Series and while she has been an outstanding community leader, she has extended her values to the workplace, Grappone Automotive, where she was recently named as COO."

The recipient of this annual award received a $1,000 prize and will be announced on-air on NHPR. Information about the award and nominations for future years can be found at nhpr.org.
