Innovation is a hallmark of this growing company. And the professional development Merchants Fleet offers employees is no exception.

The company has a five-tiered, in-house leadership and development program for both managers and employees, a mentoring program and the FleetiQ Program, which trains employees on the complex fleet industry.

In 2019, Merchants introduced the Innovation Coaches Academy, a six-month program where employees were tasked with developing a new product line or service to pitch to the leadership team. Along the way, they were taught different tactics to develop their plan. Three groups pitched their ideas in a “Shark Tank” type of setting, and the company then financially backed their ideas.

Merchants holds quarterly employee appreciation days, promotes peer-to-peer recognition through the CELEBR8 program and presents companywide awards through the INNOV8R Awards, which are peer nominated and come with a $200 bonus for the individual and an outing or meal for the team.

In 2019, Merchants moved to a 55,000-square-foot facility equipped with an employee game room, standup desks, a company gym, education center and a Grab & Go Cafe. Merchants also recently rolled out a wellness program, called Restore, through which employees can access a nutritionist, personal trainer, life coach or therapist at no cost.
