Howard Brodsky, CEO, begins each day by greeting each employee. He likes to get to know what is going on in employee lives, share his appreciation for their work, recognize special occasions and gather  feedback and their ideas. It’s an example followed by CCA’s divisional leaders.

It is also the CCA Way. The company’s principles are: keep an open mind, energize the team, show respect and take responsibility. And it is also a culture of gratitude. In addition to bonuses, employees receive a personal card from Brodsky on their anniversary along with a gift card every five years with $100 for each year worked ($500 at five years, $1,000 at 10 years, etc.)

During Employee Appreciation Week, employees were invited to send candygrams to one another to say thanks, which proved so popular that the HR department needed to purchase more candy twice.

This is a company that likes to celebrate. On Valentine’s Day, employees received individually wrapped chocolate-covered strawberries. On Halloween, both the office and the employees get decked out for a big celebration. Other events have included Pie Day, a Red Sox opening day kickoff party, ice cream days and a hot chocolate bar day.

All employees work a hybrid schedule, telecommuting on Mondays and Fridays and in the office for the rest of the week.

CCA’s family-friendly practices include providing four weeks paternity leave and 10 weeks maternity leave, and welcoming children and pets whenever an employee needs to bring them along. Employees have even brought in a rabbit and a couple of goats.


To celebrate the 2022 winners, Business NH Magazine will host the Breakfast with The Best on Oct. 5. It will include two panels with executives from the winning companies and CultureFest: 2022, where participants dig into workplace topics in eight-minute workshops. The Breakfast will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown Manchester from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
