Vice President of Government Relations and Public Affairs for Fidelity Investments
Joe Murray leads the government relations and public affairs efforts for one of the state’s largest employers—Fidelity Investments in Merrimack. With over 7,000 workers, Merrimack is one of Fidelity’s largest 11 regional sites and the company has significantly increased its NH workforce in recent years.
In his role, Murray keeps his finger on the pulse of the issues affecting NH. Workforce and housing challenges have been a priority for the financial services company, Murray says, adding that the past couple of years have seen more policy solutions around housing. “These issues aren’t going to be solved today or tomorrow or next week, but efforts to incentivize developers are being made,” he says. Fidelity works closely with partners in the NH business community, including the Business and Industry Association, to support policy changes, Murray says.
Murray also supports the firm’s philanthropic and community initiatives, which aim to increase access to education and support for historically underserved students. Fidelity also partners with the Boys and Girls Clubs, Girls Inc. and other nonprofits. “The goal is to provide access and opportunity for people in the community. That’s an important piece of the public affairs work,” he says.
Outside of his roles at Fidelity, Murray serves as board chair for Friends of Aine, a nonprofit committed to helping children and families grieving a death navigate their path to a hopeful future.
