There are plenty of reasons why the average employee tenure at PROCON is 15 years. When it spent millions on a new 26,000-square-foot, two-story office building, it kept employees in mind with a new collaborative work environment, training center, cafe and fully-equipped fitness center. Employees have adjustable standing desks and access to fresh food and snacks, as well as a Bevi machine that dispenses still and sparkling water and allows employees to add flavors through a touchscreen.
This is a company that likes to show its appreciation for employees with bonuses and extra paychecks a few times a year.
PROCON has a phantom stock program that takes 10% of the after-tax profit and allocates it to eligible employees who have completed five years of continuous service. Employees become fully vested in their phantom stock account at age 55.
There are many employees who have been here for over 30 years that have six-figure phantom stock accounts for their retirement.
This is also a company that knows how to party. PROCON’s annual celebrations are held at one of its luxury hotels, and the party is themed. Employees arrived dressed as band members from Kiss and the Rolling Stones at the Rock ‘n Roll party or Al Capone at the Roaring 20s bash.
PROCON also invests in its employees’ careers. They pay $3,000 in tuition reimbursement annually, offer a six-month mentoring program and provide a ClickSafety program, an online system for continuous safety training with more than 300 courses.
