It should come as no surprise that a bank would look out for the financial health of its employees. Bangor Savings Bank provides interest-free loans for home energy efficiency projects, heating fuel loans, PC/Mobile device loans, wellness loans for exercise equipment, and health care expense loans to pay out of pocket medical expenses that cause financial hardship. And the bank offers a $5,000 annual pre-reimbursement tuition plan for those pursuing higher education.

Bangor Savings Bank also supports the overall health of its employees. Its B Well Program offers team fitness challenges, health coaching, on-site vaccination clinics, and chair massages. All employees are eligible for a free Fitbit every two years and have access to Fitbit Premium in the Fitbit app. Employees can access Hinge Health, a virtual exercise therapy program designed to address joint pain, and Hello Heart, which offers free blood pressure monitoring and support.

Bangor Savings Bank fully pays for short-term and long-term disability insurance as well as dental insurance and pays 98% of health insurance premiums for employees. Bangor Savings also offers 26 to 36 days of paid time off annually, 10 paid holidays, 32 hours of paid volunteer time off, and 16 weeks of paid parental leave.

BSB Leader 2.0 is a nine-month program that aims to cultivate genuine leadership abilities by delving into employees’ personal values and beliefs as a leader, and why they matter to others.

Diversity is one of Bangor Savings Bank’s eight core values. This year the DEI Council formed small work groups dedicated to DEI efforts including holding DEI Listening Tour sessions to encourage employees to discuss how to make the bank more inclusive.
