A big part of what makes Associated Grocers of New England (AGNE) an enjoyable place to work is its monthly employee appreciation events and weekly summer events. These have included the management team preparing and serving meals for all the associates throughout the day as well as family friendly corporate outings to Canobie Lake Park and “Pins and Pizza” bowling nights. Some of AGNE’s engagement initiatives include a search for a company mascot in honor of National Pet Day, at-home cupcake decorating kits with pre-recorded expert guidance, and a companywide ping pong tournament. AGNE gives employees gifts for birthdays and anniversaries through the Snappy corporate giving platform.

The company is also committed to the communities it serves. AGNE offers Impact Hours, providing associates 24 hours of paid time to volunteer during their regular work hours for causes that matter to them.

AGNE established a diversity, equity and inclusion committee that includes representatives from various departments and levels within the organization. It also offers comprehensive DEI training programs.

AGNE provides employees with paid parental leave, remote/hybrid work options and the ability to set their own start and end times for their workday.

The company provides an onsite professional athletic trainer who teaches warehouse associates proper stretching and lifting techniques. AGNE also pays for gym memberships. Employees can earn Wellness Bucks by participating in activities such as yoga on the lawn, lunch and learns, and stress reduction programs and redeem them for gift cards or paid time off. When it comes to shaping leaders for the future, AGNE provides tuition reimbursement for up to four courses annually and has leadership development programs.
