There are many reasons Geophysical Survey Systems Inc. (GSSI) has consistently landed in the top two slots of the Best Companies to Work For competition for the past few years. The company creates a welcoming and engaging culture before employees even walk through the door on day one. Employees are heavily involved in the interviewing process and help determine which candidates are best suited to drive the company forward.

Each newbie receives a welcome package sent to their home the Friday before their first day, and the package is filled with GSSI swag, a welcome card from the team and a $100 Visa gift card. On an employee’s first day, they are welcomed with more GSSI swag, a lunch with the entire department and a 26-page culture book written by employees that includes the company history, the type of people GSSI seeks to hire, where to find coffee in the building, restaurants in the area, an overview of annual company events, FAQs and maps of the building.
