Sunrise’s President and CEO Eric Soederberg wants to hear from his staff directly. In addition to bi-weekly check-ins with each employee, Soederberg holds one-on-one meetings with each employee annually to learn about their interests, goals, suggestions for improvements, and if and how the company can better support their needs and desires.

Sunrise also provides plenty of ways to have fun together. It holds a Friday social twice a month for employees, providing appetizers and beverages. Based on employee suggestions, Sunrise has also held a beer stein holding contest and a Tea Time in the break room.

In December 2021, Sunrise held a virtual Yankee Swap where the most sought-after gift was a virtual Indian cooking class offered by one of the employees. That is in addition to a winter party that included a virtual cooking class with a Food Network celebrity chef using a kit of ingredients and tools that were shipped to each employee’s home ahead of time. For its most recent winter party, Sunrise rented McIntyre Ski Area for a night to hold a sledding party with bonfire and a catered meal.

Sunrise holds two major events a year for employees and their families annually that have included live bands, climbing walls, miniature golf and a lobster bake.

Other perks include 16 hours of paid volunteer time annually and profit sharing that in recent years exceeded 50% of available profits.
