Why Are Your Employees Screwing Off?

Published Wednesday Apr 11, 2012

A recent study by Salary.com shows employees have cut back on online non-work activity since 2008 (if workers are in fact answering the survey honestly.)

But a bigger question, employers may want to consider is why an employee screws around when there's tons of work to be done. Here's what Salary.com found when they asked that question.

The responses could be instructive to managers looking for answers to why things aren't operating at optimum efficiency:
  • 35% said they weren't challenged enough
  • 34% cited long hours
  • 32% said they had no incentive
  • 30% said they were unsatisfied
  • 23% said they were bored, and
  • 18% cited low pay.
