Wentworth-Douglass Names New COO

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover named Jeffrey Hughes, MPH, FACHE, as chief operating officer (COO). In this newly created position, his priority focus will be on the delivery of the hospital’s core clinical services and ensuring the community’s access to high-quality care.

Hughes has more than 35 years of experience in health care strategy and clinical business development. Prior to becoming COO, he served as vice president of operations and chief strategy officer at Wentworth-Douglass, steering the hospital through a period of strategic growth.

According to a statement, he has been integral in the integration with Massachusetts General Hospital, the development of new clinical services lines, and the opening and growth of the Portsmouth Outpatient Center.

Before joining Wentworth-Douglass, Hughes held positions at Holy Family Hospital, Partners HealthCare, and was director of health care consulting with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is a not-for-profit charitable health care organization and a subsidiary of Massachusetts General Hospital.
