WellSense Health Plan, a nonprofit health insurance company that has served NH Medicaid members since 2013, is is joining Anthem and Harvard Pilgrim in offering private health care plans in NH in 2025.

WellSense has filed to offer a variety of Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance plan options to NH residents through the Health Insurance Marketplace next year. The plans will be called WellSense Clarity plans, and like other ACA health insurance plans, qualifying Clarity plan members can receive help from the federal government to pay for both their monthly insurance premiums and healthcare bills.

Clarity plans network of providers will include Elliot Hospital, Southern NH Medical Center, Catholic Medical Center, Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, the Concord Hospital System, and Exeter Hospital. New Hampshire residents can review full details at wellsense.org/nhclarity in mid-October. Clarity plans will be available for purchase and enrollment starting Nov. 1, 2024.

“We know that hard working families will need more options for health insurance if they want to find a plan that truly fits their needs. That’s why we want to bring them our new line of WellSense Clarity plans to choose from” says Heather Thiltgen, president of WellSense Health Plan. “As a nonprofit health plan, we also hope that by increasing competition within New Hampshire’s health insurance market, we can help keep healthcare as affordable as possible.”

WellSense Clarity plans are designed for individuals and families who don’t get health insurance through their employer or through other programs, like Medicaid or Medicare. WellSense Clarity plans will be available in five NH counties (Belknap, Strafford, Merrimack, Hillsborough and Rockingham).

WellSense Clarity plans will be available for purchase to both individuals and families through WellSense (wellsense.org) as well as through the healthcare.gov website and independent insurance brokers.
