On Nov. 9, the Business and Industry Association and the NH Department of Environmental Services will present a daylong conference dedicated to water issues and policy in NH. The 2012 New Hampshire Water Symposium, presented in partnership with the New Hampshire Municipal Association, will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Center of New Hampshire/Radisson Hotel, Manchester.
Following a continental breakfast, BIA Environmental Affairs Committee Chair Jeff Mathis and NH Department of Environmental Services Water Division Director Harry Stewart will make opening remarks. United States EPA Region 1 Administrator Curt Spaulding will deliver the keynote address during lunch, which is sponsored by GeoInsight Inc.
The morning program will include a series of presentations updating participants on state legislative water study commissions, including the Governor's Water Sustainability Commission, Commission to Study Water Infrastructure Sustainability Funding and New Hampshire's Water Infrastructure: A Municipal Perspective.
The remainder of the conference will be devoted to wastewater, stormwater and land development permitting issues; water quality of the Great Bay Estuary; technical and regulatory challenges facing municipalities; and legal issues surrounding the Southeast Watershed Alliance.
