Water Symposium on November 18

Published Wednesday Nov 5, 2008

On Nov. 18, the Business and Industry Association in Concord and the NH Department of Environmental Services in Concord will present a symposium on water use and regulation in New Hampshire. The symposium, which includes a continental breakfast and lunch, will be held at the Center of New Hampshire in Manchester from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost to attend is $95 for BIA and Capitol Connect members and $125 for non-members.

This event is targeted toward executives, directors, managers, consultants and employees who deal with environmental and water use issues within their companies. The water symposium will provide a full day of programs addressing topics such as groundwater withdrawal and protection, surface water quality standards, state and federal wastewater and stormwater permitting, and impaired waters in New Hampshire.

NH DES Commissioner Tom Burack will begin the program with a discussion of DES' strategic direction regarding long-term sustainability and climate change, and the department's current water resources planning effort.

EPA Regional Administrator Robert Varney will keynote the luncheon and share his thoughts on national environmental and regulatory trends that will impact New Hampshire's regulatory community.

Several hour-long plenary sessions and two networking breaks will round out the remainder of the conference. To download a copy of the agenda, including speakers, contact the NHBIA. Exhibiting at the event will be Eastern Analytical, ENPRO Services Inc. and Normandeau Associates.
