In the spotlight: LaBelle Winery began planting a new vineyard at its Derry location, with 1,600 vines on three acres adjacent to where a sparkling wine production facility and tasting room will be built. Grape varieties planted include petit pearl, Cayuga and Itasca, all of which are cold hardy and able to withstand temperatures as low as -25 degrees Fahrenheit. Vineyard planting will conclude in 2022.

Franklin Savings Bank purchased $10,000 in NH Community Development Finance Authority business tax credits from Making Matters NH – a maker and shared workspace in Penacook. Over the next year, the group will invest in new equipment for its facility to include a 3D printer for a prototyping lab, a CNC router for a woodshop, a lathe for a machine shop, and more.

White Mountains Community College, with a campus in Berlin and academic centers in Littleton and North Conway, added a new entry-level certificate and new courses in its criminal justice program to align the curriculum with the current and projected needs of the criminal justice system. The goal is to provide students with skills for careers in local, state and federal law enforcement.

SENH Habitat for Humanity, one of more than 220 Habitat organizations awarded a grant from the financial firm Wells Fargo, will receive $15,000 to purchase building materials at a build site in Middleton. The Pires Family will become the official homeowners upon completion of the build and close on their new home with a 0% interest mortgage in spring 2022.

Bank of NH promoted Tim Connolly to assistant VP – Whitefield banking office manager. He first joined the bank in 2014 as a bank services representative. Also, Beth Lyons was promoted to assistant VP – banking office manager at the Hillsborough office. She joined the bank in 2017 as assistant office manager.

Legacy Mechanical Services, LLC installed a new water heater, donated by The Granite Group of Concord, for the Boys & Girls Club of Manchester at Camp Foster in Bedford, an outdoor camp that provides inner city children with swimming and fishing to arts and STEM projects.

The Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce welcomed Monet Massage Therapy as a new member. The studio opened in 2021 when owner Erika Monet moved her business from Colorado. The chamber also welcomed Central Park Garage, a family-owned and operated automotive and light truck repair facility in Somersworth.

The Chase Home in Portsmouth received $10,000 from Granite State Economic Development Corporation to support its working with at-risk youth through prevention, early intervention, residential and community-based programs.

Jewett Construction Company, a regional design-build construction management firm and general contractor, hired Lynn Palmer as its new human resources manager. Prior to joining Jewett, she successfully merged over 200 Circle K retail locations with 1,800+ employees in four different states during a joint venture partnership between Irving and Circle K.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust recently presented donations totaling more than $9,600 to five Northern New England nonprofit organizations from its employee-driven charitable giving program, Casual for A Cause. The NH recipient of the contributions collected in Q2 2021 is West Central Behavior Health, a nonprofit community mental health care provider for people of all ages living in the Upper Valley and Sullivan County.
