Nathan Wechsler & Company, PA has hired Marissa M. Fifield as a senior who will primarily work on all phases of audit engagements. Additionally, she will assist with accounting, compliance, and financial statement preparation. She specializes in working with clients in the real estate industry.

Franklin Savings Bank broke ground on a new location in the Pinardville area of Goffstown.  This will be the bank’s eighth full-service location and third office in the southern region. Located along Mast Road, the new 2,161 square foot office will feature two drive-up lanes, a smart ATM.  The office is scheduled to open in February 2019.

Redimix Companies provided the boost that Lakes Region Community Developers (LRCD) needed to build a playground at their Lochmere Meadows affordable housing development in Tilton. LRCD raised $38,000 over 18 months, which was enough to pay for the playground equipment and the wood chips required for surfacing, but not enough to pay for the site work and concrete footings. Redimix Companies GM Tim Vaughn and his team jumped at the chance to help.

The Society for the Protection of NH Forests presented the organization’s Conservationist of the Year award to Ben Gayman, of Manchester at its 117th annual meeting recently. Gayman became involved with the Forest Society in 1986.

Bangor Savings Bank has hired Wil Daly was recently as a mortgage loan officer at the bank’s Portsmouth business office at 36 Maplewood Ave. Daly brings more than 20 years of experience in the Seacoast area to his role with Bangor Savings Bank.

Nathan Griffith General Contracting & Building  in Amherst was recently awarded three 2018 Best of Souhegan Valley awards.  The company was voted the top business by the local community in the categories of Builder/General Contractor, Kitchen Remodeling and Bathroom Remodeling.  While, EmbroidMe/Fully Promoted of Nashua and Bedford received the 2018 Best of Souhegan Valley Region Award in the category of promotional products.

Two federal grants will bring funds to NH to help in the opioid crisis. U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) announced $950,000 in federal grants to the North Country Health Consortium from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). These grants include $200,000 from the Rural Communities Opioid Response Planning Program and $250,000 per year for each of the next three years from the Rural Opioid Health Program, and will fund efforts to combat substance misuse and the opioid epidemic in Northern NH.

The delegation also announced $1,186,005 in grants from the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to support children and youth who are affected by the opioid epidemic. These grants include $749,886 to the New Hampshire Department of Justice and $436,119 to Dartmouth College , and will bolster crime victim services by expanding existing programs and creating new services for children and youth that have been impacted by the opioid crisis.
