Two NH organizations were recognized at the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions annual academy.  


 

 In the Spotlight: Reality Check of Jaffrey, and We’ve Got Your Back Winchester were among 160 community coalitions recently honored during a national graduation ceremony at Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America’s National Coalition Academy in DC. Coalitions received a certificate for completing the training program designed to increase the impact community drug prevention leaders have. Mary Drew, CEO of Reality Check, Missy Calderwood, coordinator of We’ve Got Your Back Winchester, and Jane Skantze, the substance misuse prevention coordinator for the Greater Monadnock Public Health Region at Monadnock Voices for Prevention, were honored to represent the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire.

Live Juice, a Concord restaurant started by Aryn and Aaron Moore during the early days of the Main Street revitalization overhaul project, has been acquired by Kristen and BG Moore, who plan to continue the healthy choice menu and friendly style of business.The restaurant located at 5 South Main Street offers a wide range of healthy fresh fruit and vegetable smoothies as well as a variety of made to order salads and fresh soups. It also offers catering services to the Concord area. The business was started five years ago to provide raw vegetable and fruit juices, nutrient dense smoothies, and fresh salads. When possible, it sources locally grown and organic produce so that customers can feel good about making life-generating choices for your body and for the community.

McLane Middleton, Manchester, recognized attorney Adam M. Hamel with the 13th annual Jack B. Middleton Pro Bono Legal Services Award for his outstanding commitment to serving citizens in need. McLane Middleton created the award in support of its efforts to help ensure that all New Hampshire citizens, regardless of resources, have access to the justice system. Since the firm’s inception almost a century ago, McLane Middleton has been a consistent leader in supporting the state’s most vulnerable constituents. The award is named after Jack Middleton, who has worked tirelessly for more than 60 years giving back to those most in need.

The New Hampshire Furniture Masters Association (NHMFA), in Concord, has selected Sullivan Creative to direct the organization’s marketing and events production.  In business for more than 30 years, Sullivan Creative is an award-winning event management and marketing firm with a focus on clients in the fields of arts and culture, local production and hospitality. In 2017, the New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts presented its Micro-Business in the Arts Award to Pam Sullivan, President and Creative Director of Sullivan Creative. NHMFA is a group of professional furniture artisans committed to preserving the centuries-long tradition of fine furniture making. Members are held to the highest standards of craftsmanship to create and foster a regional market for fine furniture. Under the direction of Sullivan Creative, The Furniture Masters will create a new, integrated, multi-platform marketing program to reach a larger, more targeted audience. Sullivan Creative will also be managing the organization’s events, including exhibitions, fundraisers and pop-up events.

Merchants Fleet Management, in Hooksett, Government Sales Manager Maria Neve has been named to the NAFA Board of Directors for a three-year term ending in February 2021. Neve has over eighteen years of experience in various sales and operations roles in the government fleet management industry. She has been with Merchants Fleet Management for the last four and half years. Before coming to Merchants Neve was with Admiral Leasing, and prior to that, Donlen Government Services, Inc. She has also been involved in the alternative fuels and transportation safety sectors as a marketing and policy consultant for automobile manufacturers and the U.S. Department of Energy.

New Hampshire Community Loan Fund welcomed four members to its board of directors. Don Brueggemann of Concord is manager of The Works Cafe/Bagel Works in Concord. Pam Laflamme of Gorham is the community development director for the City of Berlin. Kate Luczko of Manchester is director of marketing and business development at Harvey Construction Company. Paula Rogers of Concord is the senior director of government relations at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in New Hampshire.

Center for Eating Disorders Management, in Bedford, has been purchased by Refresh Mental Health, Inc., from former owners Laura Clauss and Kathleen Corkery. The company employs approximately 12, all of whom are being retained. Sale of the company was coordinated by Gilbert Oriol, Business Intermediary of NH Business Sales, Inc. The Center provides specialized outpatient treatment for eating disorders in children and adults across the spectrum of eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, compulsive exercise and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder.
