This Week’s Spotlight: Next Evolution Water Systems (NEWS) in Durham, a service disabled veteran owned small business, was hired as a subcontractor to provide management, industrial engineering and analysis services to the US Army Corps of Engineers Humphreys Engineer Center Support Activity (HECSA) and other DOD Agencies. HECSA provides day-to-day installation management and support services to the Headquarters, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other Corps activities located in the National Capital Region. The contract was awarded March 9 and the period of performance will continue through March 2022, with the base contract and all options having a total value of $40 million.

The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for its Business Grants for Teachers program. The Chamber awards annual grants up to $1,000 to area teachers who have developed innovative teaching programs in capital-area schools.

Hermit Woods Winery in Meredith developed a new wine to benefit the Lake Winnipesaukee Association, also in Meredith. The winery produced 180 cases of Winnipesaukee Rosé for the fundraiser and will donate 10 percent of profits from sales of the wine to the Association.

Hinckley Allen signed a lease for an 11,095-square-foot office space in Manchester. The law firm will relocate its Concord office and 25 NH-based employees to this new location by September 1.

Textiles Coated International in Manchester agreed to fund design efforts for a potential extension of public water service in Amherst. The agreement, coordinated by the NH Department of Environmental Services, is in response to drinking water wells in the area containing perfluorooctanoic acid above NH’s Ambient Groundwater Quality Standard of 70 parts per trillion. The Pennichuck Corporation will complete the design work, which will include 110 properties.

Merchants Fleet Management in Hooksett hired Todd Welle as GM of the company’s Alamo Leasing division. Welle previously spent eight years as regional VP of Donlen Leasing, a fleet management provider headquartered in Illinois.

North Branch Construction in Concord hired FIREHORSE Creative, also in Concord, to design and develop its new corporate website. FIREHORSE Creative was one of four creative firms interviewed and considered for the project.

The People’s United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of People’s United Bank, donated $4,500 to SHARE Outreach in Milford for its People Helping People Hunger Relief program. SHARE distributes food for 150,000 meals to 500 families each year.

Portsmouth Regional Hospital now offers robotic-arm assisted MAKO Total Knee Replacement technology, the first and only hospital in NH to offer the robotic-assisted procedure.

Spencer Thomas Group in Portsmouth, a professional services and management consulting firm, was appointed to the College of Business Administration Advisory Board at Plymouth State University. The board, which assists with curriculum development to help prepare students enter the workforce, also includes representatives from DHL, Bank of NH, TD Bank and Snowflake Computing.

Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster received two grants to begin a therapy program for current patients who misuse opioid medications. The new program, called Medication Assisted Therapy, will provide customized treatment plans for patients seeking to end their opioid addiction. New Hampshire ranks second in the nation for opioid-related deaths.
