United States Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La.,Chair of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and Senator Jeanne Shaheen, D-NH, a senior member of the Committee, introduced the Commercial Real Estate and Economic Development (CREED) Act. The act would extend for five years a provision allowing small business owners to use Small Business Administration 504 loans to refinance certain existing commercial mortgages. The SBA approved over 2,400 refinancings for over $2.2 billion to small businesses.

Franklin Pierce University in Rindge acquired two new trustees: Al Marulli, Jr. and Anthony Lee Sintetos, M.D., Ph.D. Marulli served on the board from 1992 to 2002. Sintetos joined for the first time.

Attorney Naomi N. Butterfield joined Bernstein Shur, an entrepreneurial law firm located in Manchester. Butterfield has more than 20 years of experience practicing law in New England and Colorado. She works for the Labor and Employment Practice Group for the firm.

The Duffy Agency, a full service brand strategy and advertising agency in Dover, added Nancy Dewar to the marketing team as account director. Dewar brings over 20 years of experience and manages all accounts as well as focuses on new business development.

The town of Waterville Valley is building a new green community called Green Peak. It will be a development of custom-built attached homes that will include high-quality, energy efficient windows and doors, high-performance insulation, high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, and water-conserving products and appliances.

Milestone Engineering & Construction, Inc. in Concord completed renovations and additions to the Concord Food Coop in Concord, designed by DC Design also located in Concord. The project included the addition of the new entry and tower.

Concord Hospital board of trustees in Concord elected Muriel Schadee as board chair and Dr. Philip Boulter as vice chair.

Bellwether Community Credit Union in Nashua sub-leased 2,100 square feet of office space at below market rates to NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire in Manchester. The reduced cost saves NeighborWorks over $14,000 per year. It has also helped expand services to the Greater Nashua area.

The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation in Concord granted $20,000 to Families First Health and Support Center in Portsmouth. Funding came from the Barbara K. & Cyrus B. Sweet III Fund, the Dorothy and Paul Hobbs Seacoast Advised Fund, and the Joseph G. and Jean E. Sawtelle Fund at the foundation. It will support general operations at Families First.

The Spaghetti Stain Restaurant celebrated its first year anniversary March 1st. For the event, the restaurant served draft beer and house wine for $1 per glass, as well as a variety of special entrees.

Rath, Young and Pignatelli, P.C., a full service law firm based in Concord, hired Eric W. Macaux as a member of the firm's Energy Law Practice Group. Macaux previously served as senior director for Strategy and General Council of the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.

In Nashua, CCS New England marks its 15th anniversary in 2013 after seeing a 36 percent increase in revenue. CCS New England's boost in revenue was driven by expanded sales from clients in the education sector and growth from new clients in the corporate sector.

NextLevel Now, Inc. of Portsmouth announced Robin Drunsic and Brian McGettrick joined their team of accounting and financial professionals. Drunsic is an experienced financial and operations leader; and McGettrick has over 20 years of accounting, operations, human resources, and strategic planning experience in multiple industries.

Leddy Group, a staffing solutions and business resource consulting firm in Dover, expanded, adding new internal positions, opening a FL office, expanding professional services, and increasing sales team. The firm also won three awards in the past year.

Matt Whitney joined Centrix Bank of Bedford as VP, commercial loan officer. Whitney has eight years of experience in the banking industry with knowledge in portfolio management, commercial lending, customer relationship management, and credit analysis.

3S Artspace of Portsmouth elected a new slate of board officers. The slate includes Douglas Keith of Eliot as chair; Karil Reibold of North Hampton as vice chair; Linda Sanborn of Durham as treasurer; and Deborah Thompson of Portsmouth as secretary. The board appointed two new members as well: Michael Landgarten of Eliot and Dennis Randall of Stratham.

Rivier University in Nashua formed a Business Program Advisory Board, composed of leaders and managers from the industry who are experts within the business world. Some Rivier alumni are among the members.

In Concord, Company C received the ARTS Award for Area Rugs, presented by ART and the Dallas Market Center. Company C received the same award in 2007.

Memorial Hospital of North Conway appointed Karen Davenport and Mike Davenport to lead its philanthropic efforts. Karen joines as director of philanthropy and Mike as associate director.
