Telehealth Parity Laws

Telehealth has the potential to resolve a number of issues in the U.S. health care system, including meeting patient needs in rural areas without access to doctors, controlling insurance costs and continually monitoring patients with chronic conditions to keep them healthier. Health Affairs issued a policy brief reviewing telehealth practices and potential challenges.

The brief estimates that the combination of real-time communication, and remote patient monitoring usage in emergency departments, prisons, nursing home facilities, and physician offices could save the country $4.28 billion in health care spending annually.

New Hampshire passed a law in 2015 defining how insurers and providers could offer telemedicine and Health Care Law Today reviewed how NH providers could take advantage of the technology.
