The Granite State News Collaborative is a collective of more than 15 local media, education and community partners working together to produce and share news stories on the issues that affect our state.

The financial impact of COVID-19 has hit many NH newsrooms hard. Yet, they haven’t stopped getting vital information to their communities. The goal at the Collaborative these past few months has been to help local news outlets give their readers more news and a deeper understanding of what’s happening in the state.

All donations to the Collaborative during NHGives Day of Giving will be used to hire freelance journalists, the majority of whom are local furloughed reporters or those who lost freelance work due to cuts.

Since mid-March, freelancers for the Collaborative have produced roughly 160 stories for our partner outlets. The newsroom partners not only shared and published these stories, but they shared and published more than 300 of their own stories with each other.

At a time in which local journalism faces its biggest challenge, our partner newsrooms are now able to share information and connect communities across the state like never before.
