SIG SAUER Expands Manufacturing

SIG SAUER has acquired a multi-building campus in the Crossroads Industrial Park in Rochester and says it will relocate its  Dover operation there and more than double its workforce.

Tom Taylor, chief marketing officer and executive vice president of commercial sales, says the company doesn’t have enough space at its current headquarters in Newington to increase manufacturing there and is generally short of space across all of its NH locations.

“The Rochester facility will alleviate much of that [space] shortage across the company,” says Taylor. “We currently have approximately 130 employees in [Dover], and the Rochester expansion will allow us to add 170 employees.” Renovations in Rochester are already underway.

The expansion is the result of a collaboration with the city of Rochester and the state of NH, including the NH Business Finance Authority (BFA). Under the agreement, BFA financed the building purchase and tenant improvements with a combination of state-guaranteed bonds and other capital at an estimated cost of $19 million. SIG SAUER will lease the building for 10 years from BFA with payments equal to the cost of financing.

SIG SAUER also has operations in Arkansas and Oregon, but, Taylor says, “Our largest manufacturing operation is in New Hampshire, and all SIG SAUER firearms are manufactured in New Hampshire.”
