With leagues cancelling games and suspending seasons for the foreseeable future, daily fantasy sports company SuperDraft in Salem has launched ‘Legends,’ a series of free simulated NBA games featuring some of the greatest teams in the 73-year history of the NBA.
Games are offered daily, featuring two teams, allowing SuperDraft contestants to form a roster of five total players with selections from each team. SuperDraft’s first-ever daily fantasy sports NBA simulation took place on Sunday, March 15, 2020 featuring the 1986 Boston Celtics taking on the 1996 Chicago Bulls.
All NBA Legends contests will be free to enter with the opportunity for participants to win a minimum of $15,000 over the next month. These simulated games will begin at 7:00 p.m. EST and last 48 minutes long. SuperDraft players can follow the simulated live action by watching the game unfold on the SuperDraft website.
Games will be played in SuperDraft’s ‘Championship Mode’ format, consisting of rosters hand-selected by SuperDraft players and choosing one ‘Champion,’ or top player, earning 1.5x its point total, along with four other additional players from either iconic team to round out their SuperDraft roster.
“With the postponement of sporting events across the country, we wanted to provide some accessible fun and entertainment to help fill this temporary void,” says SuperDraft founder Steve Wang. “Sports bring people together, and can offer a positive diversion to the current situation the world is trying to navigate. Given the uncertainty surrounding the ongoing impact of COVID-19 and the responsible decisions made by sporting organizations to halt operations until further notice, we hope our free Legends games provide some relief to those feeling the effects of this crisis.”
Other teams being considered for upcoming games include the 1985 Atlanta Hawks, 1994 New York Knicks, 1999 Toronto Raptors, 2001 Sacramento Kings, 2004 San Antonio Spurs, 2006 Phoenix Suns, 2010 Oklahoma City Thunder and 2010 Dallas Mavericks.
SuperDraft is also encouraging all current and future Legends contestants to get in on the action by crowdsourcing ideas for additional all-time great teams on Twitter. Fans can tweet individual teams or matchups they would like to see at @SuperDraftdfs.
SuperDraft will resume daily fantasy game offerings for live games once they resume. To participate in upcoming Legends games, please visit www.superdraft.io or download the app at the App Store and on the Google Play Store.
