Red-Eye Trade Missions to Promote NH Exports

Published Tuesday Mar 5, 2013

New Hampshire companies looking to boost their exports in the areas of aerospace and health technology can join quick-hitting, industry specific trade missions planned in April and June.

These red-eye' missions will head to Mexico in April and focus on health technologies and to Rome in June, centering on the aerospace industry. They are coordinated by the New Hampshire International Trade Resource Center in Concord with the US Commercial Service.

We are planning to conduct several missions this year, said Tina Kasim, program manager for the center, which is part of the state's Division of Economic Development. They are designed to be focused on an individual industry and to be intensive, with just one or two days spent in the country.

Mexico is NH's second largest trading partner and the April trade mission is open to Granite State companies involved in technology that helps make hospitals, doctors and nurses more efficient, Kasim said, including billing systems, patient tracking, mobile devices for medical uses, hands-free wireless mobile equipment and hardware and software. The mission will land in Mexico City on April 23 and during the two-day visit, participants will meet with industry leaders and government officials and attend the Mexico Health IT Business Development Conference. Following the conference, participants will have several customized matchmaking appointments with Mexican businesses, before departing on April 25. There is room for five companies to participate.

The second mission to Rome is for June 24 and 25, and is aimed at the aerospace, defense, safety and security sectors. Participants will take part in business to business matchmaking and market briefings.

Qualifying businesses will receive a State Trade Export Promotion grant that covers part of the cost of their trade mission. For more information, contact Kasim at 603-271-8444 or at tina.kasim@dred.state.nh.us.
