Opera North Restores Farm

Opera North in Lebanon has struck a deal with the National Park Service to begin the restoration of the Beaman home, known as Blow-Me-Down Farm, in Cornish.

Four years ago, Opera North answered a call to action from the National Park Service regarding the best use of Blow-Me-Down Farm, the historic property of Charles Beaman, said Evans Haile, general director for Opera North.

“Our plan was the creation of an inclusive national Park for the Arts, open to the entire community, which would encompass opera, theatre, dance, nature, and the visual arts,” Haile said.

With the signing of a 32-year lease, Opera North can begin the restoration of the Beaman home and start putting its long-term plans into place.

“Blow-Me-Down Farm will not only be the artistic home of Opera North,” said Haile. “We hope it will be a haven for all people seeking nature, beauty, history, human fulfillment, and the transformative power of the arts.”
