NH Moose Parade Set for this Weekend

Published Thursday Sep 25, 2008

It may be fall, but you don't have to go north to find a moose this weekend! Sixty-four fiberglass moose
sculptures will brighten up Veterans Park in Manchester for a two-day family festival. The festival kicks off on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. and goes until 4:00 p.m. Hours will be the same on Sunday, September 28th. The moose are part of the New Hampshire Moose Parade, an event that will raise money for the Daniel Webster Council,
Boy Scouts of America. The event is free and open to the public.

The festival will be great for families, art lovers, and supporters of Scouting programs. The festival will include a variety of booths, food, games, obstacle courses set up by the New Hampshire National Guard, and a scavenger hunt that involves all of the moose sculptures. New Hampshire Moose Parade memorabilia will also be for sale.

The fiberglass sculptures were designed and painted by students from the New Hampshire Institute of Art, and some talented artists at Grappone Auto Group in Bow. The moose are painted according to different themes such as Boston Red Sox Moose, Old Man in the Moose, Starry Night Moose, and Conservation moose. Each moose has its own unique story which can be read by attending the festival this weekend, or by visiting www.nhmooseparade.org.

The New Hampshire Moose Parade will culminate with a black tie gala and live auction, which will be held Friday, October 3, 2008 at the Radisson Ballroom in Manchester. Tickets are $150 per person. The proceeds from the auction will benefit the programs of the Daniel Webster Council, Boy Scouts of America. For tickets to the event, please contact Michelle Tickler at (603) 625-6431 ext. 123.
