Nashua Workforce Roadshow in September

The Connecting Workforce Resources Tour returns on Thursday, September 6 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. with an event at Nashua Community College , 505 Amherst Street, Nashua. Jointly organized and led by the NH Sector Partnerships Initiative  (SPI) and ApprenticeshipNH , the Resources Tour is a statewide series of programs that focuses on matching employers in the core industries of construction, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing and technology with resources to help them grow, attract and retain talent. The Resources Tour will follow the NH Employment Security job fair held at the college from 10 am to 2 pm.

"Entering the fall months, we know companies are still facing challenges recruiting, hiring and retaining talent, and we want to be able to provide the resources to help," said Phil Przybyszewski, workforce solutions project director for SPI. "Previous events helped companies in the Manchester, Keene, Berlin, Laconia and Portsmouth areas connect with workforce resources, and we are excited to bring this event to Nashua."

The September 6 event follows a speed networking format, featuring overviews of the SPI, the Office of Workforce Opportunity, WorkReadyNH, workforce services provided by Nashua Community College and NH Employment Security. Each of these organizations will present a five-minute overview of their organization. Following these overviews, attendees will be able to dive more in depth by selecting the three workforce organizations best suited to their company's needs, and participating in 15-minute meetings with representatives from those programs and organizations.

"New Hampshire's workforce challenges are not industry-specific, they're widespread," says Anne Banks, workforce development administrator for the Community College System of New Hampshire and ApprenticeshipNH. "Employers are struggling to find and attract talent with the requisite skills, and we hope to be able to help them address these challenges by serving as a resource to those companies and the community at large."

Registration for the September 6 event is available online and there is no charge. For more information, please contact kathleen@cooksonstrategies.com or call 603.782.8192.

The Sector Partnerships Initiative (SPI) is a new industry-driven state-wide effort to help New Hampshire businesses in targeted industries address workforce needs. Focusing on five core industries: construction, health care, hospitality, manufacturing and technology – SPI assists companies in finding funding and training resources that provide employees with improved skills and career advancement opportunities. SPI also helps companies create a network to convene and collaborate with other companies on a regular basis to identify shared hiring, training and retention needs.

The ApprenticeshipNH Program , housed at the Community College System of New Hampshire, is a unique effort that prepares workers as Registered Apprenticed to better compete in the modern workforce. Focusing on the Advanced Manufacturing, Healthcare, and Information Technology sectors, the ApprenticeshipNH Program provides workers with invaluable opportunities to pursue highly-skilled, high-paying jobs, and opportunities for employers seeking to build a qualified workforce in NH. The program is funded through a $1.2 million grant from the U.S Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration.
