MVP Health Care Announces New NH Health Plans

Published Wednesday Nov 19, 2008

MVP Health Care is introducing to NH a new suite of health benefit plans, including TriVantage, an exclusive provider organization (EPO) plan that lets consumers choose a health plan that fits their lifestyle. Different subscribers in the same employer group can select from Active Lifestyles, Family Focus or Healthy Alternative plans:

  • Active Lifestyles is for members interested in staying healthy and active. This package offers lower co-pays for primary care physician and gynecological visits; routine eye exams and reimbursement of up to $300 for fees associated with almost any activity including skiing, golfing and bowling.
  • Family Focus helps members care for children and keep the whole family healthier. Maternity care is fully covered and there are low co-pays for adult PCP visits; low or no co-pays for sick-child doctor visits; and reimbursement of up to $300 for fees associated with any youth sport such a soccer, lacrosse, baseball or hockey.
  • Healthy Alternatives is for members who want alternative therapies. There is a reimbursement of up to $300 toward massage therapy, acupuncture, and chiropractic care.

The new TriVantage plans are offered by MVP Health Care operating subsidiary, the MVP Health Insurance Co. of New Hampshire and will be effective January 1, 2009.

The plans also offer large and small employers a built-in national network to cover employees based outside the MVP service area of New York state, Vermont and New Hampshire, regardless of where those employees live or travel.

In addition to the $300 reimbursement, the TriVantage plans also include MVP's WellStyle Extras program WellStyle Extras, are available in all MVP PPO, EPO and consumer directed health plans and offer incentives of up to $300 payable as checks or gift cards from leading national retailers for subscribers who reach specific goals in the WellStyle Extras programs such as smoking cessation, weight loss or an exercise program.

To help members reach their goals, the program offers health coaches who work with members in one-on-one telephone consultations to help them quit smoking, lose weight and develop exercise programs. These health coaches are part of Healthyroads, a self-help health improvement program that focuses on obesity management, tobacco cessation, and disease prevention. Healthyroads is a subsidiary of American Specialty Health (ASH) one of the nation's leading complimentary health benefits organizations.

This new generation of products speaks directly to employers' need for a wellness solution that encourages employees to adopt healthier habits, emphasizes preventive care, and is simple to administer. At the same time, the plans respond to consumers' desire for choice in their health benefits, said David Henderson, MVP executive vice president and chief marketing officer. Our Wellness Suite is available to both small- and large-group employers, making it possible for any employer to offer a program that can attract and retain key employees, reduce costly absenteeism, and increase workplace productivity.
