More than 1,000 Meals Donated to NH Charity

Published Wednesday Oct 8, 2008

Company C, a Concord, New Hampshire-based designer and manufacturer of hand-crafted area rugs, decorative pillows, bedding, fabric and throws, collected donations throughout August and September to equal more than 1,000 meals for the NH Food Bank.

During its annual tent sale, held at the end of September, Company C enlisted loyal customers to help alleviate the recent food shortage at NH Food Bank, the state's only food bank. Customers were asked to bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation to be entered in a raffle to win a rug from the Company C Holiday Collection. Throughout the
weekend, Company C customers donated 183 food items and cash to sponsor nearly 1,000 meals.

In addition, Company C's internal committee for social responsibility sponsored a food drive for employees, collecting 227 food items and cash to fund 200 meals.

"Since the need was so urgent, we wanted to help out as a company, but also involve the local community," said Walter Chapin, president of Company C. "We felt our tent sale was the perfect venue to join forces with our loyal customers to make a contribution to our state, and it turned out to be a great success!"

Company C then presented the donations to Michele Garron of the NH Food Bank.
