The number of Immigration and Customs Enforcement workers in New Hampshire rose more than a third over the past year, as the Trump administration continues its immigration enforcement push across the country and increases ICE hiring nationwide.
While the overall number of ICE staff in the state remains relatively small — 44 people according to the last numbers from a federal workforce database — it is up 38% since last year.
The increase in ICE staff in New Hampshire is lower than the 120% nationwide increase and the 44% jump in nearby Maine over the same time period.
ICE employees work within the federal Department of Homeland Security. In New Hampshire, about half of that agency’s employees work for the Transportation Security Administration.
At the same time, the number of employees working at Citizenship and Immigration Services decreased by 23% from last year, although that number has quadrupled over the past decade.
