Liquor Sales in NH Booming

Published Tuesday Jul 29, 2014

The New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC) gross sales hit an all-time record of $626 million in Fiscal Year 2014, an increase of $23 million – or nearly 4 percent over the previous fiscal year, according to unaudited NHLC sales figures. Total liquor net profits transferred to the New Hampshire General Fund reached $148 million, which is used to support a variety of programs including education, health and social services, transportation and natural resource protection.

“Through a combination of innovative marketing and sales campaigns, the strategic relocation and renovation of NH Liquor & Wine Outlets, and an enhanced focus on creating a welcoming, informative and enjoyable customer service and shopping experience, the New Hampshire Liquor Commission is delivering record returns to the taxpayers of New Hampshire,” said NHLC Chairman Joseph W. Mollica. “While we are pleased to see all-time sales once again this year, the New Hampshire Liquor Commission is constantly exploring new approaches to deliver even greater profits again in Fiscal Year 2015.”

Since the first New Hampshire Liquor & Wine Outlet opened in 1934, liquor and wine sales have generated more than $3 billion in revenue for the state. NHLC is expecting to net an additional $1 billion for New Hampshire’s General Fund in the next seven years.
