ePropelled, a manufacturer of software-controlled motors and generators for aviation, aerospace and electric vehicles, opened a 10,000-square-foot facility within Laconia Municipal Airport in July. This will allow aerospace customers to fly their corporate aircraft directly to the airport where their projects are taking place.

“The building is fully operational, and we are currently testing propulsion motors with propellers for drones and flying cars,” says Nick DeSilvio, director of operations, adding the building includes a 6,400-square-foot aircraft lab. Two new engineers were hired for the facility and the firm expects to add eight to 10 more jobs, he says.

“In the future, we may consider additional operations in Laconia. We hope that the state government in Concord would welcome this new industry for the growth and future of New Hampshire,” he says.

The facility will perform customer-specific engineering projects and product lifecycle testing for electric motors and related products.

DeSilvio says Laconia is better suited to their needs than Manchester because the airspace above Laconia Airport is less trafficked and used by smaller aircraft. “Adhering to the airspace rules, Laconia is the best airport suited for our customers and suppliers to fly in and for our work testing product in the air,” says DeSilvio. “This combined with our good relationship with the board and the helpful airport manager Marv [Everson] made it an easy choice.”

ePropelled also has locations in Massachusetts, Wales and India.
