Discounted Rain Barrels!

Published Thursday Apr 10, 2014

Aquarion Water Company in Hampton is selling recycled rain barrels at a discounted price to New Hampshire customers as part of their ongoing water conservation efforts. Recycled rain barrels are an effective tool for collecting and storing rain water runoff from a roof or gutter downspout to be used later as a free source of water.

“We are pleased to be able to offer our customers the opportunity to conserve water and save money through the use of rain barrels,” said John Walsh, Aquarion VP of operations. “Using rain barrels can also help to mitigate pollution in New Hampshire’s water supplies by limiting storm water runoff.”

Just one quarter inch of rain from an average roof is enough to fill one 60-gallon barrel with water. This water can be used later to fill watering cans, to connect to garden hoses, to feed drip irrigation systems and for other outdoor chores—even when water usage bans are in effect.

“Rain barrels can help to greatly reduce water consumption during the warmer summer months,” said Walsh.

Aquarion is offering rain barrels to its customers at a cost of $75, compared to the retail price of $125. To get your barrel, visit Aquarion’s www.aquarionwater.com or call Skyjuice New England at 207-363-1505. All orders must be receivedby May 21, 2014. The barrels, which fit in the backseat of most cars, will be available for pickup from Tuesday, May 27 to Friday, May 30, from 9 a.m.– 3 p.m. at Aquarion Water Company, 7 Scott Road, Hampton.
